How to enter

How do I enter? What do I need to include in my entry? Will my entry be returned to me? Will entries be treated confidentially? Will I only be considered for the categories I enter? Where do I send my entry? Is there a fee to enter the awards? Can I attend the awards? What are the rules?


How do I enter?
To enter, you will need to complete an entry form and submit a written presentation that answers the criteria for the category you are entering. The criteria can be found on the entry form and here.

The entry should be word processed for ease of reading and visually pleasing. PowerPoint presentations are also acceptable.

What do I need to include in my entry?
1. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form.

2. Each entry must include a citation of no more than 1,000 words, explaining why the company/individual should win the award(s) entered. The citation should also address the specific judges' requirements outlined against each category.

3. Your entry should also include a 200 word description of the three most important dates in the company's history.

4. Each entry must include a photograph

5. And, more importantly, the judges will need documentary evidence - the facts and figures to back up your claim. These MUST include the three latest sets of audited accounts (young companies should submit as many years as possible) and some projection of next year's performance.

6. Entries that arrive without audited accounts will not be considered.

7. Entries for some categories may benefit from additional information. For example if you are entering the Customer Excellence Award feel free to include some glowing testimonials from customers.

Will my entry be returned to me?
The Growing Business Awards regrets that entries are non-returnable, so please do not include any original documentation.

Will entries be treated confidentially?
All entries and information submitted to the Growing Business Awards are treated in the strictest of confidence. Financial information is only seen by the judging panel.

Will I only be considered for the categories I enter?
No. The judges retain the right to nominate you for additional categories that they may deem appropriate.

Is there a fee to enter the awards?
No. Entering the Growing Business Awards is free of charge.

Can I attend the awards?
Of course. When a company is shortlisted for an award they receive one complimentary place at the awards. However, we do hope that you will use the opportunity to celebrate with family, friends and colleagues. Please note we are only able to offer one complimentary place per company.

What are the rules?

Please find below the rules for entering the Growing Business Awards outlined below.

1. The Growing Business Awards are open to any business that is independently owned, employs fewer than 500 people and is based in the UK. Please note that some categories have more specific entry requirements, which are fully outlined in their criterion.

2. If a category is focussed specifically on achievement in the past 12 months, this refers to activity dating back to June 1, 2006.

3. Entries will be judged by a panel of eminent and impartial adjudicators. For more details on who our judges please visit the judges page.

4. Entering more than one category is allowed and photocopied entry forms are acceptable.

5. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form, which should be signed by the person responsible for submitting the entry. All entries will be acknowledged on receipt.

6. Closing date is Friday September 21, 2007. Entries arriving after the deadline will not be accepted unless previously agreed with the organisers.

7. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. No employee of Caspian Publishing or the CBI shall be entitled to enter.

8. Winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner on Wednesday November 28, 2007, held at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square. To book your place please visit our booking page

9. Award winners may state in advertising/promotional activity and on their stationery that they are a winner but this must include the category and the year in which the award was won.

10. If entering one of the following categories you must be available on October 15 for an interview in London with our judging panel: Young Company of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year.
